Holidays and Mylar Minnow's......

Hiya Folks!

This might be my last post for a few days as we are going on holiday......YIPPEE!!! Hopefully me and the kids will get some fishing done while Lisa is shopping and I have also packed my fly tying travel kit so I wont be bored if the weather turns nasty.

I purchased a new mobile phone that runs on the google android software so fingers crossed I will still be blogging from my holidays. (I just love technology)

The piccy today is of a Mylar minnow I tied for a friend recently, he is using it for saltwater fishing but I reckon it will make a great Perch or Chub pattern. I might give one a go when I return.

Razor Scissors gone blunt!!!

Above: Titanium bonded scissors

Above: Blunt Razor scissors...:o(
Several weeks ago my rather expensive Razor scissors went blunt! Now these scissors aern't cheap, £25.00 a pair for branded name scissors and to be honest they hadn't done that much work. They had mainly been used for trimming synthetics on Pike and Saltwater baitfish patterns as the 5" blades where perfect for this kind of work.

I decided to try and source a cheaper pair of scissors for this kind of work and I am glad to say I have found them!! They are around £4.99-£9.99 a pair depending on size, have titanium bonded blades and come in a range of sizes making them perfect for a wide variety of jobs.

I have been using mine now for several weeks and they are still as sharp as the day I purchased them. They have cut everything from bucktail to flash material and synthetic fibres and the length of blade makes them excellent for trimming baitfish patterns and Puglisi type flies. The blades and points aern't fine enough for detailed work on small flies but that's not what I wanted them for, they are however perfect as a cheap alternative to the Razor scissors for trimming long materials.
They may not look as nice as the Razor scissors but at less than half the price I am not complaining.....

If anyone is interested in a pair please get in touch.
